Dr. Alam has more than 33 years of working and research experience in different fields of Geology and Geomorphology, Mineral resources exploration, mapping and also engaged in earthquake geology, geoarchaeology, geological remote sensing research. He served in the Geological survey of Bangladesh (GSB) during 1981-2015 and retired from GSB as Director General in 2015. He has 8 years of teaching experience in Remote Sensing & GIS in a public university as part time teacher. He completed his MSc in Geology and Mining from University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. He also earned MSc in Geological Survey from ITC, Enschede, The Netherlands. Dr. Alam published more
than 20 publications in different journals at home and Abroad. He attended several training programs in home and abroad. He is the member of editorial board of different local and foreign journals. He travelled many countries in his career.

A book titled “Neotectonic Signatures from the Northern Bengal Basin in Bangladesh” published from Lambert Academic Publishing, Germany in 2017. He is the sole author of this book.
